We are a US contract manufacturer who produces technical activewear and wearable technologies for the most forward thinking global and high growth brands. We incubate advanced concepts, develop, prototype and sample, and produce in the US with unprecedented speed and agility. HOW THIS ROLE SUPPORTS OUR VISION
In order for a US apparel manufacturer to compete in the global supply chain, we must prioritize quality above all else. 99Degrees develops and produces cutting edge technical performance activewear for some of the world’s most forward-thinking brands and technology companies. Your knowledge of apparel quality and manufacturing processes, strong management, and your ability to build scalable systems and procedures will ensure that quality remains central and integrated across our company as we grow.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
This position will lead continuous improvement through the development and implementation of scalable quality strategy, standard operating procedures, and tools. Our Quality Director will coach and grow our quality team while ensuring that quality management is a company-wide priority and responsibility. You will also:

Review, develop, and implement a Quality strategy for development, innovation, and production.

Integrate Quality strategy with plant and business growth strategies, Toyota Sewing Systems (TSS) methodology, and lean manufacturing principles.

Ensure that Quality strategy is implemented against clear and measurable goals.

Create, validate, communicate, and manage Quality Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Establish new measurement systems if/where possible.

Ensure that procedures, systems, and work instructions are clear, efficient and not redundant.

Design supporting reporting systems to document and track quality data and thorough consistent SOP implementation.

Create and/or validate training curriculum for quality functions including product development, top of production, in-line inspections, final quality inspections, and quality audits

Setup formal weekly communication channels to solicit feedback, set goals, clarify expectations, course correct, and express pride in team’s accomplishments.

Identify cost reduction opportunities such as streamlining systems, introducing tools and technologies, providing training, applying best practices etc.

And any other related task that the supervisor deems to be necessary.

and have the following qualifications:
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum 5 years of experience in the apparel/shoe manufacturing industry.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent including two years in a supervisory role.

Demonstrated understanding of lean manufacturing principles and track record of continuous improvement efforts and successful ideas-generation management.

Ability to work effectively under pressure with constantly changing priorities and deadlines.

Be accessible to production floor and office staff and to use required office equipment.

Specific vision requirements for quality inspection, reading of written documents and frequent use of computer monitor.

Fluent written and verbal English. Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
